Teens invented a condom that detects STDs

Category: News

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read an article this morning saying that a couple of teenagers invented a condom that can detect is a person has a sexual transmitted disease. It appears a group of 13 and 14-year-old students from London’s Isaac Newton Academy just developed a "smart" condom that glows in different colors if it detects a sexually transmitted infection ( STI ). It’s called the S.T.EYE and it actually might help prevent the spread of STI. The condom changes to a different color depending on the bacteria or infection it detects. So, it may glow green for chlamydia, yellow for herpes, purple for human papillomavirus, or blue for syphilis. Their invention even got them the top health innovation prize at the TeenTech Awards, which are intended to promote science, engineering, and technology in schools. All I can say is... Way to go, boys! XOXO, Emma.
